Mostar is declared as one of the 10 Most Desirable Cities in Europe and the City of Trebinje Tourism Board is placed among Top 10 Sustainability Initiatives in the category of Tourism Boards
As part of their participation at the World Travel Market in London, the USAID Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam) delegation attended the Wanderlust Awards gala event following the completion of the voting process. At this ceremony, the City of Mostar was rewarded as one of the 10 most desirable cities in Europe, and Trebinje Tourism Board was placed among the top 10 sustainability initiatives.
This year, the UK’s leading independent travel magazine, Wanderlust, asked its itinerant readers to vote for places, people, and travel brands that captivate the imagination and inspire wanderlust. This magazine has been at the forefront of sustainable travel for nearly 30 years. By offering authentic travel writing, stunning photography, and expert guidance in print and online, they inform and motivate travelers worldwide to opt for green travel.
Via its social media outlets, national media and a direct mailing campaign, USAID Turizam encouraged voters to select Bosnia and Herzegovina as the most desirable destination
USAID Turizam provided technical assistance in the application process and carried out an extensive campaign on social media and national media outlets, as well as among its extensive list of contacts, encouraging voters to select Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of Europe’s Most Desirable Destinations. In total, more than 50,000 readers chose the winners of the Reader Travel Awards by voting for their favorite travel destinations and travel companies.
As an international competition, the Wanderlust Travel Awards recog-nize and celebrate the stars of travel, from tour operators and desti-nations to travel personalities and influencers. Since 1993, sustainable travel has been at the core of Wanderlust, and USAID Turizam celebrates the Trebinje Tourism Board’s award for the eighth best sustainable initiative in the tourism boards category.
Speaking about Mostar, Wanderlust Founding Editor Lyn Hughes not-ed: “This is a city that people are intrigued by and want to visit. There has been growing recognition of the city, particularly in the last year or so. I think people are intrigued even though they have not been there, and they want to know more and they are obviously thinking of going there one day.”
