Cycling is an adventurous activity whose popularity continues to grow. This year’s research conducted by EuroVelo, ATTA, and CycleSummit confirms that cycle tourism is constantly evolving and expanding.

At the General Assembly of the European Cultural Route Iter Vitis, leaders in wine tourism from Europe learned about practices connecting winemakers, cultural institutions, and local communities along the Herzegovina Wine Route, further solidifying its status on the European wine map. With support from USAID through the USAID Tourism project, the Herzegovina Wine Route is creating new opportunities for international collaboration, and its members, such as the Vukoje Wine Gallery, which won the award for the best enogastronomic experience, contribute to the recognition of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a top destination for wine and culinary tourism.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has expanded its tourism offerings to the American market through a business networking tour in New York and Los Angeles, where the BH delegation established partnerships with over 60 American travel agencies. American tourists contribute significantly to revenue, and the USAID Tourism project, in collaboration with local and international partners, has recognized this potential and assisted companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina in breaking into this important market.

The Herzegovina Wine Route continued its international networking on September 19 at the wine museum La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. During the visit, a training session for eight members of the museum staff was organized, along with an after-work session attended by 66 participants. The session presented the Herzegovina region, its wines, and the history of viticulture in the area. This marked the beginning of a three-year contract signed between the La Cité du Vin museum and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which the chamber and the Herzegovina Wine Route committed to donating 500 bottles of wine each year.

At the 8th UN Global Conference on Wine Tourism, held in Yerevan from September 11 to 13, 2024, USAID Turizam showcased the Herzegovina Wine Route through a panel entitled “Get Inspired!” The conference gathered over 300 participants from more than 25 countries, focusing on key aspects vital for enhancing the role of wine tourism in development and territorial integration. It highlighted the potential of wine tourism as a catalyst for cultural preservation, job creation, and economic growth. The presentation of the Herzegovina Wine Route garnered significant attention and positive feedback from the audience.
