Day of Cheese and Potatoes in the Nevesinje Village of Bratač!

WHAT IS THE DAY OF CHEESE AND POTATOES?

In 2023, the United Nations adopted a resolution declaring May 30th as International Potato Day, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of potatoes for global agriculture, economic development, and food security.

On this occasion, the residents of Bratač village, in collaboration with the Slow Food Trebinje Herzegovina Association and the Tourism Organization of the Republika Srpska, are organizing the event “Day of Cheese and Potatoes” for the first time on May 30, 2024.

The event promotes two of the most famous products of the Nevesinje region: SIR IZ MIJEHA (cheese in a sack) and NEVESINJSKI KROMPIR (Nevesinje potatoes). By choosing the archaeological complex of Ovčiji Brod and the Roman Road as the venue for the event, we aim to highlight the immeasurable wealth of cultural-historical, natural, and gastronomic heritage of our villages.
