USAID Turizam Announces A Public Call For Enterprises in Hospitality Sector

USAID Turizam invites registered hospitality enterprises in BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina) to submit applications for grant funding aimed at improving service accessibility for people with disabilities in hospitality venues, primarily hotels and restaurants. Eligible activities for funding within this public call include:

  • Enhancement of accommodation accessibility: Hotels can apply for funds to make their accommodation more accessible, meeting accessibility standards such as the installation of ramps, elevators with Braille labels, visual alarms in rooms, and accessible bathrooms and parking.
  • Initiatives focused on awareness of barriers: Activities aimed at increasing awareness and developing innovative solutions, including staff training, accessibility audits, social media campaigns, and collaboration with disability rights groups.
  • Inclusive hospitality services: Restaurants are encouraged to apply for funds to make their premises accessible to all guests, including those with mobility or sensory disabilities. This includes adjusting seating arrangements, menus, and staff training.
  • Staff training and development: Applications for funding can include staff training and development programs to better assist guests with disabilities (e.g., completing training on communication with people with disabilities, such as sign language or similar training, etc.).
  • Campaigns to reduce social biases: Grants support initiatives that combat biases against people with disabilities in hospitality and tourism. This includes promoting positive experiences of people with disabilities and partnerships with local communities.

Extended Call for Private Companies and Associations

USAID Turizam invites all private companies and associations with proven experience in developing tourism products, creating and strengthening the tourist offer, establishing links between agricultural production, tourism, and rural tourism, to submit applications for grants. This is to support their efforts to strengthen and expand their offer, especially if they are active within the projects of the Herzegovina Wine Route (HWR) and the Most Beautiful Villages of BiH (MBV).

The targeted activities within this public call are:

  • Transforming products (handicrafts, agricultural products) into a tourism product,
  • Developing new or improving existing tourism products or experiences, especially within HWR and MBV,
  • Technical assistance in the development, packaging, presentation, offering, sales, marketing, and promotion of tourism products,
  • Supporting local events and experiences that connect wineries with other producers in the tourism chain,
  • Cooperation among local businesses to create value chains in tourism that can attract more tourists,
  • Creating and improving advanced tourist experiences,
  • Procurement of key materials and resources for the introduction and maintenance of special tourism experiences.

Extended Tour Operator Call Application Deadline (DMC)

USAID Turizam invites all BiH Inbound Touroperators (DMCs) to send applications for grants to support their efforts to expand their international travel agents’ sales and distribution channels in prioritized source markets.

Deadline for submitting your applications is extended to December 31, 2023.

The grants program aims to:

  • Increase the number of international overnight arrivals
  • Improve spending
  • Extend length of stay
  • Reduce seasonality
  • Ensure a fair dispersion of visitors to wider and lesser visited destinations around the country
