Developing Trebinje as a Slow Food Destination

USAID Turizam is supporting the Trebinje Slow Food Association to turn the city into a globally recognized Slow Food travel destination. Through technical assistance the Trebinje Slow Food Association will develop its capacities to lead this process. Discussion is in progress with Slow Food International (SFI). USAID Turizam has just signed a grant with travel agency Lux Travel from Trebinje, which will be supported to promote Cheese and Honey Trail and 16 small producers gathered by the Slow Food Association. Activities will promote traditions, customs and authentic food cultural heritage by creating a cheese and honey trail and by bringing tourists to production sites and promoting local food production experiences. The Cheese and Honey Trail of East Herzegovina is the first touristic project that aims to promote the gastronomic and cultural-historic heritage of rural Herzegovina.
