In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a growing demand for stories and reporting on business, tourism, and development investments. But many media representatives have the issue of reporting all events in a timely manner when the majority of topics are written directly from the redaction, as travelling to the location takes much more time. We discuss the necessity of reporting on projects such as the Herzegovina Wine Route (HWR) with Aleksandra, Alema, and Ilma, and importance of hearing in person experiences of wine producers and people coming from hospitality sector on this route.

“The admission of the HWR to the Iter Vitis route would increase BiH tourism’s prominence in the global market. It implies that Bosnia and Herzegovina will host a greater number of tourists, so encouraging the development of not just the tourism industry, but also hospitality and food production, as well as other associated sectors. This will result in an increase in job opportunities, and we hope that this admission to the European network will persuade the BiH government to invest in one of the most promising businesses and increase its international competitiveness “, underlines RS News Agency journalist Aleksandra Grujić (SRNA)

For Alema Pendek, the Editor of Sarajevo’s Oslobođenje Business Section who is up-to-date with all news about BiH economy, this trip represents a fresh perspective and an opportunity for discovering new stories.

“During our trip, we have confirmed that all HWR products are of great quality. Every vintner seeks to justify Iter Vitis admission. Given the fact, that the admissions process lasted less than a year, it demonstrates their tremendous motivation as well as their interest in expanding the current offer. Clearly, there is potential, as wine and food pair well together, and producers have already begun collaborating. So, in the Cellar Begić we tasted cheese produced by local producers. “, explains Alema

Ilma Jakubović – Rafuni, the magazine journalist for “Ljepota i zdravlje”, emphasizes that it is essential to pay close attention to the HWR’s tourism attractions.

“The trip to Ljubuški and Kravica Waterfall revealed to me that one spot with symbolic investment, but a strategic approach to tourism, may be enhanced. We saw in Međugorje that BLAŽ Enology gathered winemakers from around the region and, in a few short years, established a prominent BiH brand. This tour with USAID Turizam confirmed that HWR is more than wine and wineries; it includes a plethora of information that completes the narrative. Through our work at “Ljepota i zdravlje” magazine, we hope to explore new methods to enrich and beautify daily life. In this context, tours of Herzegovina are accessible, meaningful, and engaging, and all adventure enthusiasts can find something to their preference. We do not have to travel far to discover beauty. All of the beauty is veiled in magical Herzegovina “, describes Ilma.

Journalists can now disseminate their stories about Bosnia and Herzegovina in a completely new manner. USAID Turizam acknowledged them as HWR carriers and ambassadors. The two-day visit to Herzegovina region has ended, but the statements of our interlocutors remain as an important reminder of the significance of wider cooperation among all those who would make BiH people and people across the world wonder: Why Herzegovina Region would not be our next destination?
