Modernizing Vocational Cooking Education with Industry Professionals

USAID Turizam joined forces with GIZ’s project on Technical and Vocational Education in BiH and the Ministry of Education Canton Sarajevo to support the modernization of secondary vocational education for Cooks in two pilot schools in Sarajevo: School for Tourism and Hospitality and Secondary School Center Hadžići. Eminent education and industry professionals validated the existing Occupation Standard for Cooks as a basis for curricular modernization. A nominated Curriculum Task Force intensively worked on programmatic revisions of the curriculum, which were endorsed and supported by industry professionals and international experts through peer reviews. The new cook curriculum was officially submitted in the hope that it will receive approval, and that the curriculum can be applied from the beginning of the school year 2022/23.
