The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) focused its efforts on raising agricultural production and enhancing the quality of life in rural areas. This is largely dependent on the extent to which social and economic inequities between men and women may be eliminated. Simultaneously, UN Women and FAO are collaborating to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination against women through the implementation of specialized programs, strategies, and policies.
Women have a vital role in their households and communities in rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, women in rural areas suffer numerous impediments and structural inequality. Women, in particular, lack access to critical resources. It is essential to invest in policy development and implementation in order to improve the quality of life for women in rural areas.
