Sarajevo Outdoor Festival
Sarajevo Outdoor Festival was held on the first weekend of September, and the exhibitors from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered with the aim of presenting unique products of adventure and sports tourism, sports equipment, local and indigenous food, sports clinics, tour operators, sports societies, and clubs for domestic and foreign tourists.
USAID Turizam provided technical support in the realization of this event, promoting how sustainable tourism practices, along with an appealing content, can be adapted to all generations. As part of the festival, an international Skakavac trail race, a mountain bike race, sport climbing on natural rock, via ferrata, hiking, yoga sessions, the “Enjoy Outdoor Sarajevo” outdoor tourism fair, and a concert by the popular band Zoster were organized.
About the importance of the “Skakavac” Nature Monument
The protected area of the “Skakavac” Nature Monument, based on recognized natural wealth, has the responsibility of promoting not only the preservation of the current ecosystem but also advanced protective measures for numerous aspects that jointly make up this unique location.
The commitment to protecting and enhancing the diversity of life in this area paves the way to the development of ecotourism, which contributes to the economic stability and cultural enrichment of local communities and the Sarajevo Canton area as a whole. The core objective of managing this protected area is to establish a system that will allow for long-term protection biodiversity and landscape integrity while encouraging the sustainable use of natural and cultural resources.
Let’s develop responsible and ecological tourism in the “Skakavac” nature monument!
To ensure long-term sustainability and preservation of this beautiful site for future generations, the local community, government institutions, and businesses operating within the “Skakavac” nature monument must collaborate on planning, managing, and monitoring tourist activities within this protected area. USAID Turizam will continue to work on programs that primarily promote authentic tourist experiences in protected areas in order to improve local community engagement in developing sustainable tourist offerings. The future of sustainable tourism is everyone’s responsibility, as evidenced by the preservation of the precious ecosystem for future generations.
