With the support of USAID’s Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam), the Institute for the Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared the Guide for Protection of Craft Products in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This guide is intended to provide entrepreneurs in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a deeper understanding of intellectual property, while also encouraging them to protect their products, especially traditional crafts. The guide is intended for beneficiaries in Bosnia and Herzegovina who would like to protect their products through one or more forms of intellectual property, including patents, industrial designs, trademarks, and indications of geographical origin.

In addition to distinguishing items or services on the market, a trademark is an ideal marketing tool that enables users to raise their profile and perform higher-quality promotion with the goal of increasing the visibility and consumption of manufactured products.

Numerous producers and associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina have successfully completed all procedures and met all eligibility requirements, consequently earning the right to grade and sell their branded and protected products. The Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina encourages all interested parties who have not yet undergone this procedure to download the guide and informative pamphlet to learn more about protection procedures and to contact the Institute in an effort to strengthen its market position.
