The Mostar Hub and Spokes model is being introduced in the Herzegovina area in collaboration with the City of Mostar by USAID Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam).
The goal of this innovative approach is to boost tourism to the City of Mostar and the nearby satellite municipalities/cities by increasing the number of visitors, spending, and length of stay. During the years 2022 -2023 USAID Turizam will assist the Herzegovina–Neretva Canton Tourist Board and regional tourist groups with marketing and promotional initiatives in Mostar and the surrounding towns.
Through a collection of full-day or half-day offers or itineraries, the Mostar Hub and Spokes model will link Mostar (the Hub) with destinations, attractions, and tourist experiences nearby (the Spokes), providing both domestic and international guests with a variety of trip and excursion alternatives.
Longer stays and more spending per tourist will result from this model, which will boost local economic benefits, new investments, and job creation.
The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Tourist Board and regional partners will collaborate to create appealing visual content that will be published and promoted through their digital and social media channels, as well as through collaborations with domestic and international travel agencies and tour operators. Promotional activities aim to complement the efforts that the tourism sector is already making in the City of Mostar and Herzegovina region.
The following twelve municipalities from the Herzegovina region will be included in the implementation of the Mostar Hub and Spokes Model: Neum, Ravno, Čitluk, Nevesinje, Široki Brijeg, Ljubuški, Grude, Stolac i neighboring municipality Berkovići, Ljubinje, Jablanica and Konjic, as well as the wider area of the City of Mostar.
On Tuesday, September 6 , in Mostar, the local trade will gather for the first meeting to discuss experiences and products that can be further promoted through this model and connected thematically with the Spokes.
More meetings with other towns and their tourism industries will take place during the coming months.
