USAID Turizam to receive certificate of recognition
The United Nations has officially declared 17 February as Global Tourism Resilience Day, following an initiative led by the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council and the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre. This decision will be announced at an event to be held at ITB Berlin, moderated by USAID Turizam Chief of Party Ibrahim Osta and Global Travel Practice Leader at Finn Partners Debbie Flynn. The Co-chair of the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Center and Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, will also deliver a special address.
This global event aims to recognize the importance of tourism resilience and to promote strategies and actions to build the resilience of the tourism sector. It will also showcase the efforts of various organizations and individuals who have contributed to this initiative. As part of this celebration, thirty organizations, including USAID Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will receive a certificate of recognition. USAID/BiH Head of Economic Development Office Karl Wurster will receive the award on behalf of USAID Turizam.
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the tourism industry, highlighting the need for greater resilience and crisis management in the sector. The Global Tourism Resilience Day is an important step towards promoting the importance of tourism resilience and developing strategies to ensure the sustainability of the tourism sector.
