USAID’s Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina has partnered with Monri Payments, one of the first payment providers in Southeast Europe, with the aim of facilitating and widening access to online payments for the tourism industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this way, the amount of tourist offers in Bosnia and Herzegovina that available online will be significantly increased, advancing the online visibility and presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a tourist destination.
The tourism industry in BiH is challenged with the ability to sell their offers online because there is a lack of awareness and knowledge about the importance and availability of payment gateways that can enable immediate booking and confirmation options in a secure and affordable manner that can be easily integrated as part of their website and sales channels. At the moment, most bookings, especially amongst micro and small busi-nesses, are handled via a contact form and don’t complete the whole pro-cess in one website visit, which is today’s travelers’ trend.
USAID Turizam and Monri Payments have agreed to collaborate to facili-tate and effect digital transformation amongst tourism service providers through the integration of affordable, secure, and reliable payment gateway options in their sales channels offered at competitive and special prices. The partners will work on raising awareness about the importance of providing immediate booking, confirmation, and payment options in the modern-day tourism scene; raising awareness and interest in Monri Payment Gateway options amongst the suppliers and service providers in the tourism sector; and provide preferential rates and fees to incentivize the tourism service providers to consider Monri payment gateway options.
Monri Payments will offer BiH tourism service providers preferential rates on payment gateway transactional fees as well as additional services required to enable online payments and transactions, secure special transactional fees charged by local banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and continue to negotiate the possibility of additional lower transaction fees with local banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina (eCommerce fees) based on the realized value of transactions.
Following initial promotion of the offer, over 30 BiH tourism companies have initiated negotiations with Monri Payment to integrate their payment gateway, while 5 companies have successfully completed the process.
