The Herzegovina Wine Route (HWR) was established by the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton in 2007 as part of a project funded by the European Union. At that time, the initial mapping and networking of key stakeholders were carried out, laying the solid foundations for the development of the HWR. With the support of the US government through the USAID Turizam project, the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH launched activities in 2020 to revitalize the HWR with the aim of positioning the region as a top wine tourism destination.
